Classification and application of cleaning agents

Views:time:2025-06-04

summary:

This article classifies cleaning agents into six categories based on their specific areas of use:Household cleaning agents、 Kitchen cleaning agents、Cleaning agents for light industry、Cleaning agents used in the transportation industry、 Industrial cleaning

1. Household cleaning agents

Household cleaning is the cleaning and maintenance of buildings or industrial equipment, such as cleaning of floors, walls, furniture, carpets, doors and windows, bathrooms, and cleaning of stone, wood, metal and glass surfaces. This type of cleaning agent generally refers to the cleaning of hard surfaces.

Common household cleaning agents include deodorants, air fresheners, floor wax, glass cleaners, hand sanitizers, cleaning soaps, etc. Disinfectants and fungicides containing o-phenylphenol and o-phenyl-p-chlorophenol or p-tert-amylphenol in the formula have a relatively narrow application range and are mainly used in hospitals and guest rooms. They can effectively kill tuberculosis, staphylococci and salmonella.

2. Kitchen cleaning agents

Kitchen cleaning is the cleaning of glassware, dishes, tableware, pots, grills and ovens in public kitchens and restaurants. It is generally machine washing and manual cleaning. Among kitchen cleaning agents, the most consumed are detergents for automatic washing machines, as well as matching rinse aids, fungicides and drying aids, followed by hand washing detergents. Compared with ordinary household products, kitchen cleaning agents tend to have stronger alkalinity and sometimes have higher concentrations.

3. Cleaning agents for light industry

The food and beverage industry uses cleaning agents to wash packaging bottles, production equipment, storage containers for food, beverages, dairy products, and meat, as well as to scrub cattle pens, sheep pens, milking equipment, etc.

In the production of dairy products, meat, canned food, and eggs, acidic or alkaline cleaning agents and disinfectants are often mixed in a ratio of 10:1. while the food industry mainly uses strong alkaline cleaning agents, often compounded with chlorine-containing disinfectants.

4. Cleaning agents used in the transportation industry

In the transportation industry, cleaning agents are mainly used for the internal and external cleaning of vehicles such as cars, trucks, buses, trains, airplanes, and ships, as well as the cleaning of vehicle parts (such as brake systems, engines, turbines, etc.), among which the cleaning of the external surface is similar to metal cleaning in the industrial field.

Cleaning agents used in the transportation industry include wax and body surface cleaners and windshield cleaners. Truck and bus exterior cleaners can be either alkaline or acidic, but aluminum alloy surfaces can only use alkaline products. Train exterior cleaners generally contain organic acids, inorganic acids and surfactants. Aircraft cleaners are also an important consumer area. Aircraft surface cleaning can not only improve aviation safety, but also improve economic efficiency. Aircraft cleaners generally have special standards and need to be able to clean heavy dirt. They are mostly developed by the aviation industry.

5. Industrial cleaning agents

Metal surfaces, plastic surfaces, tanks, filters, oilfield equipment, grease layers, dust, paint removal, wax removal, etc. require industrial cleaning. Metal surfaces must be cleaned before painting and coating to achieve better bonding effects. Metal cleaning often requires the removal of grease and cutting fluid on its surface, so solvent-based cleaning agents are often used. Metal cleaning objects are divided into two categories according to their major categories: rust removal and oil removal. Rust removal is mostly carried out under acidic conditions, which can remove the oxide layer formed on the surface of metals such as steel, as well as metal insolubles and other corrosion products deposited on boiler walls and steam pipes. Degreasing is carried out under alkaline conditions, mainly to remove oily dirt.

6. Others

Cleaning agents are also used in other fields such as washing, such as cleaning textiles in laundries, hotels, research centers, restaurants, and hospitals, as well as cleaning flat-panel displays, photovoltaic cells, swimming pools, clean rooms, studios, storage rooms, etc.
